Frequently Asked Questions
How long are sessions? How often would we meet?
Your first appointment is a 90-minute intake session, which gives us time to understand your history, identify what patterns are bringing you to therapy, and create a personalized treatment plan.
Ongoing therapy sessions are 50 or 90 minutes and are typically scheduled weekly at the beginning of treatment. As you begin to experience meaningful progress, we may transition to meeting biweekly or monthly for maintenance support.
For clients who would benefit from deeper, more focused work, I also offer 3-hour therapy intensives. Intensives allow us to move beyond the limitations of a traditional therapy hour and can be especially helpful for processing trauma, working through long-standing patterns, or making deeper progress in one, condensed period of time. Intensives can be scheduled as a standalone service or integrated into your ongoing therapy plan.
The frequency and length of sessions are always tailored to your individual needs, goals, and circumstances.
What will our first session be like?
The goal will be for your to feel comfortable, heard, respected and understood. Brooke will spend time learning about what brings you to seek therapy now, what you wish could be different, as well as gather some history and current life circumstances. Together we will create therapeutic goals and a treatment plan to guide us toward the outcome you are seeking. I will share some of the therapeutic approaches and determine what interventions and support will be most helpful in your individual situation.
What types of therapy do you use?
I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach because no single therapy fits every person or every situation.
Depending on your needs, treatment may include Brainspotting, EMDR, parts work (Internal Family Systems and Ego states informed), somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and/or attachment-based interventions.. My goal is always to help you move beyond simply managing symptoms toward resolving the underlying root causes of your distress.
What are your session fees and do you accept insurance?
Session fees are as follows:
90 minute intake fee $325
50 minute session fee $175
90 minute session fee $325
3 hour session fee $650
I am an Out of Network provider. A superbill can be provided for submission to insurance companies who may reimburse a portion of the session directly to you (the client). If you want to know how much your insurance is willing to cover for out of network mental health services, call the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card or log into your insurance account online for this information.
Should I use my insurance for Mental Health Services?
This is a personal choice based on your current situation. Many people elect not to use their health care plans to cover mental health services and choose to pay for these independently. This is typically related to concerns about the privacy of their protected health information, concerns regarding the insurance requirement to have a diagnosis in order to access services, and/or concerns about with who this information may be shared with in the future through insurance companies and or their affiliates.
What happens if I can’t make a scheduled session?
Appointments canceled 24 hours in advance are rescheduled for a more convenient time. Appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance are subject to the full session fee for a late cancellation or in the event of missing a scheduled appointment and not providing notice. Please contact Brooke as soon as you know the appointment will no occur as scheduled.
